Do I have to have an F-1 student visa to study in the Intensive Program?
No, student visas are only necessary for students who come to the United States for the purpose to learn English. If you are already in the United States working, participating in an AuPair or another exchange program, or employed by an international organization, you may also study in the Intensive Program.
Can I begin the Intensive Program during the second week of class?
Yes. Under our 'Late Enrollment' program you may enter a class at any point during the session. However, you may not receive credit, CEUs, or a certificate/diploma if you enter a program under Late Enrollment. In addition, the Late Enrollment Program does not count towards maintaining your status if you are an F-1 visa student. Please talk to the Admission Officers at the center location of your choice for more information on this program.
I am an intermediate student. Can I take the TOEFL preparation course?
No. The TOEFL preparation course is a very advanced class which requires that students also have an exceptionally advanced understanding of English. LADO students are welcome to take the TOEFL preparation class after they finish Level 10 or if they place into Level 11 on their placement exam.
When I finish my studies, will I receive a certificate or diploma?
Yes! After you have completed all your classes at LADO, please make sure that you attend the exit meeting and exam. All students are required to take the exit exam before they receive their certificate. Once you finish the exit exam, please request your certificate from your center's Admissions Officer.
How many levels can I complete in one Intensive session?
After each one month Intensive session, you will finish one level.
How do I know which class I should begin in?
Before you begin classes, you will take a placement exam. The placement exam will determine which of the ten levels you will begin in. The placement exam has two parts: a written part and a conversation part. The written exam consists of grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening questions. The oral exam is a conversational activity with the Center Director, or Assistant Director.
Where can I buy the class materials?
Each of LADO International College's three centers has an ESL bookstore to buy the necessary materials for the class.
How many CEU's will I receive for the Intensive Program?
Upon successful completion of one Intensive Program session, you will receive 7.2 CEU's.
Do you have a two-week Intensive course?
No. Our shortest program at LADO is the one-month Intensive Program. If you are interested in shorter classes, you can consider taking tutorials or any of our workshops.
