It has been a long time since I had itchy feet and wanted to travel all around the world. So I have decided to hit the road and get away from it all. I left the nest after my 25th birthday once my studies were over. I used to live with my dad because my mom kicked the bucket when I was 9.

Valentine’s Day at LADO Arlington

Roses are red/Violets are blue/We celebrate in English/And you can, too! 

LADO students celebrated the Feast of Saint Valentine with good food, good humor, and lots of specifics (and some generalities) about the loves in their lives.  Thank you to everyone who sang, recited poetry, handed out flowers, or simply turned up in a Valentine’s Day kind of mood.

My Life as an Explorer - extracts from our students' work

 
This month’s D.C. ULE class, Understanding and Using Idioms, revealed approximately 350 of the nearly 25,000 idioms used in the English language. The walls of our classroom were plastered with flipcharts listing idioms from our lively conversations; from a wonderful text used in the class, In the Know; and from what we heard ‘on the street’, on TV, and in movies.
